Heather BOWLER
Global Communications Director of Eurosport Group

After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Communications Studies, Heather Bowler began her career at the British American Chamber of Commerce in California, USA, before moving to Paris to establish her working career in communications with Time Out. Heather progressed through the world of corporate communications with Lowe Lintas Advertising Agency and Initiative Media Worldwide before finally joining the Eurosport Group in 2007 as the International Media Relations Director, a role she held for just a year until she was appointed as the Global Communications Director for the whole of the Eurosport Group.

During her tenure at Eurosport Heather has been paramount in raising awareness and improving perception of the Eurosport brand, as well as vastly increasing media coverage. By developing strong B2B relationships, Eurosport’s media coverage has quadrupled, reaching a broader consumer base, which has also aided by newly-implemented “behind the scenes” onsite media and client operations. Further awareness of the Eurosport brand has been raised by training key Eurosport executives for public speaking, developing a calendar of high profile speaking engagements; from zero engagements even a few years ago Eurosport is now regularly invited to speak at global sport industry events. The successful integration of digital and social media as powerful channels of communication have further helped manage customer relations. Finally, Heather has helped to improve perception of the Eurosport brand through creating a trade event marketing team that targets visibility at strategic, high profile trade events.

Alongside the improved awareness and perception of the Eurosport brand, another of Heather’s achievements to date is creating the very first centrally-driven global corporate communications campaigns at Eurosport across all market. These include, amongst others, the launch of the Yahoo!Eurosport internet partnership in 2007, building awareness of as a brand, the Beijing Olympic Games “Unlimited” campaign in 2008 which featured the first ever Eurospean-wide advertising campaign to launch HD, the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games “Winter Zone” campaign, and most notably both the Eurosport’s 20th anniversary campaign in 2009, which changed the way Eurosport communicates to a more aggressive market approach, with over 700 dedicated external articles, and the 2011 modernisation of the brand universe, introducing the new tagline “All sports. All emotions.” and creating award-winning idents.

Heather is married with three children, bilingual in French and English, is a keen skier, and enjoys the positive aspects that life can bring.
